Do you feel for these children: rural children, young children opting out of schools to assist their parents due to poverty, school dropouts unable to adjust themselves to the highliy competitive education system and bright children who find main stream schools inadequate.
OUR HISTORY : Inspired by the ideals of Sri Aurobindo & Swami Vivekananda, Divya Deepa initiated its service activities in a small village named Srirampura on the outskirts of Mysore City, Karnataka state during 1992. Children used to either drop out or fail to reach the desired educational standards due to illiteracy, ignorance and poverty of their parents, lack of infrastructure in the village schools etc. Divya Deepa started educating kids through the following activities
- Non-formal classes in English and Mathematics
-Personality development & yoga camps
-Outdoor education through excursions
-Environmental awareness programs
-Art and craft activities
-Music, drama & other cultural activities
Our above experience has taught us that each child wants to learn things in which it its interested, at its own pace & its personality blossoms in an unique way. Unfortunatelly in regular schools, all children have to compulsorily learn certain things, in a certain way, in a certain time frame and have to pass the examination in first attempt. If not, the particular child is labelled as unintelligent.
We firmly feel that an alternative residential school with 'school for children' policy instead of 'children for school' policy is the urgent need of the hour, especially for the development of physically, emotionally, economically and socially challened children.
Kaliyuva mane[A Kannada word which means "home for learning"] is an alternative school started by Divya Deepa in June 2005. Its logical sequel to Divya Deepa's initiatives.
Divya Deepa has bagged "Rotary Ramya Award" given for excellence in social service.
Divya Deepa is also involved in community development, youth and women empowerment, environmental awareness.
Mission: Divya Deepa was started with a mission of providing value based quality education to rural and underprivilaged children. Divya Deepa strongly believe that development of the nation can be achieved by working at the grass roots level. We feel that every child has an eqal opportunity to learn, innovate and excel in life.

We are also involved in community development, youth and women empowerment in villages and envirionmental awareness programs.

Divya Deppa strongly endorses the mission statement

'To focus on the opportunity deprived children, helping them to get a move on with their lives and show the way to achieve their dreams, by providing necessary help, care, empathy and value based education'

Our Activies:
Education : Project Kaliyuva Mane is an alternative school started by Divya Deepa charitable trust, with an aim to transform the lives of underpivileged children. Children who fail to reach the desired educational standards due to illiteracy, ignorance and poverty of parents, lack of infrastructure in the village shools are given a new hope of life, by providing value based education including yoga, arts, crafts, music, drama, environmental awareness programs.

Environment: Divya Deepa is heighly eco-conscious. It had taken up serveral tree planting programs. Children are taught about recycling of wastes, pollution control methods etc.
Divya Deepa promotes eco-friendly hand made paper. Recycled paper is used for all its inception. It had put up a stall of 'Besige Mela' - exhibition in association with Seva Trust for creating environmental awareness among the general public. One of its kind Eco-Toilet had been constructed with the help of Zilla Panchayat. "VANASUMA" is the project named for the environmental eactivities undertaken by Divya Deepa. Recently Bio gas plant is constructed and we use bio gas for cooking.

Community Development: Divya Deepa has undertaken several community development works:
-Regular health camps for the benefit of neighboring villigers
-sport facilities for rural youth
-Employment opportunities for rural youth
